What Must I Do to Be Saved?

When Paul and Silas were in a Roman jail, (Acts 16:22-40) the Bible tells that "at midnight they were praying and singing hymns of praise. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundationos of the prison house were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's chains were unfastened. When the jailer realized what had happened he thought to kill himself thinking that the prisoners had escaped. Paul cried out: "Do yourself no harm, for we are all here." The jailer called for lights and rushed in and trembling with fear, fell down before Paul and Silas, and said: "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" They said to the jailer: "Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you shall be saved, you and your household."

It is wonderful to know that we can be saved from the penalty of sin.

Romans 3:23: "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life."

Romans 10:9-10: "That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised HIm from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confess, resulting in salvation."

In order to be saved we must realize that we need a Saviour and understand that Jesus Christ is our Saviour. He is the only one who can save us. It took the shed blood of Jesus to save us: (without the shedding of His blood there is no remission for our sins).

We do not have to "clean ourselves up" before we come to Jesus. If we come to Him, He will not reject us. He will make us the "accepted in the beloved." If we come to Him and receive Him in our hearts as our very personal Saviour, He will show us step by step how to live for Him.

In order to be saved we must:

A - Accept Jesus in our hearts as our personal Saviour
B - Believe that God has raised Him from the dead
C - Confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord (make a public, outward confession.

Yes, it is just as simple as "ABC!"

"Jesus is tenderly calling thee home - Calling today , Calling today;
Why from the sunshine of love wilt thou roam Farther and farther away?
Jesus is waiting, O come to Him now; Waiting today; waiting today.
Come with thy sins, at His feet lowly bow -- come and no longer delay . . .

WELCOME TO THE KINGDOM OF GOD! WELCOME TO GOD'S FAMILY --
IF YOU HAVE DONE THE ABC STEPS OF SALVATION WITH A SINCERE HEART, YOU ARE NOW A NEW CREATURE IN CHRIST, YOU ARE NOW A CHILD OF GOD!

WELCOME HOME!
