"Joy to the World the Lord is Come," is a favorite Christmas Carol. On today, December 25, 2020, many people have reflected upon this past year as we have all pressed through this pandemic. Perhaps some have lost family members and friends. This can be a trying time for some. Others have tried their best to stay "isolated," following the directions of various medical and governmental bodies. This has not been a "normal" year for most of us. As we reflect upon this day in which we celebrate and observe the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, we recognize that our joy is not predicated upon what is going on around us, but our Joy comes from the love of Jesus which has been shed abroad in our hearts. This love has been given to us by the Holy Spirit. On this day we pull from the Joy of the Birth of the Saviour who came to this world to save us for our sins. "For God so loved the world that He gave HIs only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16). Even in the midst of sorrow and grief we draw our strength from the assurance that our Hope is in Christ Jesus! We are reminded of Romans 8:37-39: "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that love us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Have a blessed and Merry Christmas! (Dr. Beverly Brooks Summers, Senior Servant Leader Destiny Covenant Ministries)
